New York Mets announce roster for World Series vs. Royals
The New York Mets announced their roster for the 2015 World Series against the Kansas City Royals, which is set to begin on Tuesday night.
The Mets are making their first appearance in the World Series since losing in five games to the New York Yankees in 2000. Their last World Series victory came in 1986 against the Boston Red Sox.
The Royals return to the World Series just one year after losing to Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants in seven games. The Royals last won the World Series in 1985.
The Mets look to continue their hot streak after sweeping the Chicago Cubs in the National League championship series. Matt Harvey will start Game 1 for the Mets against Edinson Volquez. Second baseman Daniel Murphy placed himself at the center of the Mets’ postseason offense by hitting a home run in six straight playoff games, setting a new major league record.
