Angels Free Agent Signs With NL Central Squad
The Los Angeles Angels have been awfully quiet this offseason. After signing Ron Washington to be their manager, the organization has not made an impactful roster addition.
Some Angels free agents are making deals, though. The Pittsburgh Pirates signed former Halos' infield depth piece Jake Lamb on a non-roster deal.
The Angels picked up Lamb after the Seattle Mariners released him following the 2022 season. He appeared in 18 games last year, slashing .216/.259/.353 with two home runs.
The organization released him in July 2023 and the New York Yankees picked him up. He did not make another appearance at the major league level and then was granted free agency by New York.
Now, he'll fill the same role he has in the past few years in Pittsburgh. He has a chance to make the major league roster on a young team with playoff aspirations. He's good infield depth and occasionally flashes a solid bat. On a cheap deal, he provides them nothing but upside.
On the Angels' side, fans are still waiting to see what moves the organization will make. Recently, reports have circulated that they have been linked to LHP Blake Snell. That could excite fans of a club that needs starting pitching.
Hopefully, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto finally signing, free agency can unofficially get started and the front office can fill out the roster.
