Angels News: Anthony Rendon Breaks HR Slump But Continues Infield Struggles
It just wasn't the ideal Sunday for your Los Angeles Angels at all. They were the given the prime opportunity to establish themselves as the top team in the AL West by beating the Texas Rangers and overthrowing them for the first seed. How did they respond? By allowing 26 runs over the past two games to them.
The first inning made it seem like we were about to witness a resurgence game after losing Saturday in pretty embarrassing fashion. Both Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani made it bases and none other than Anthony Rendon stepped up to the plate looking for a dinger.
Indeed, he was able to find one and it was his first home run of the season as he brought both superstars home in the process.
However, things just went downhill from there and much of the blame was geared towards starting pitcher Jose Suarez. He opted to pitch through an early shoulder injury and ended up allowing seven runs on six hits and gave up a good amount of the Rangers' 18 runs.
But Rendon also made some key errors during the match that gave Texas leeway to take a big lead as well.
He is one of the more interesting players in the league right now because the talent is certainly there and he gets paid like a star but then he has games like this where he shines bright one moment and fizzles out the next.
"Anthony Rendon's 6 errors lead Major League third basemen this season. He's also only played in 25 of the 35 games games thus far."

A number of these errors have come from throwing so it may just be a result of the 32-year-old still getting his body comfortable after a number of injuries. I do fully expect him to get back in rhythm sooner rather than later as he knows what's at stake this season.
