Angels manager Phil Nevin provided an update on injured utility man Brandon Drury. Drury was put on the injured list last week with a bruised shoulder.

"We are running some tests to check things out," Nevin said on Friday. "We'll probably have some answers for you on that soon." The answer came ahead of the Halos' final game of the first half of the season.

“I have more range of motion,” he said. “I’m feeling a little better each day now. If it keeps progressing like I think it’s going to, hopefully right after the break or shortly after the break. I’ll probably start to hit and start taking some ground balls in the next couple days.”

Drury initially showed signs of injury July 1st when he was held out of Friday's game against the Diamondbacks due to a "tweaked" shoulder suffered while diving for a ball against the White Sox.

Having received a cortisone injection, the hope is he can return to the lineup sometime during the long homestand after the All-Star break.

Drury had been heating up for the Halos, hitting .337/.377/531 with five home runs in June.

The Angels are riddled with injuries, with Mike Trout likely out at least a month, Anthony Rendon struggling to come back from a leg injury, and many others facing ailments. The full Angels injury report can be found here.

The All-Star break is coming at the perfect time for an Angels team looking to get healthy and resume their push for a spot in the playoffs. With a 2-8 record in their last 10 games, the Halos have fallen to fourth in the AL West with a 45-45 record.

Because of Shohei Ohtani's contract expiring after the season, many have wondered whether the Angels would seek to trade away their star two-way player. However, a recent report from an MLB insider suggests the Angels will attempt to bolster their roster by buying at the trade deadline.

Some fresh faces plus some stars returning from injury could make all the difference for this Angels team.
