Angels News: Even Hall of Famers at Away Games Cannot Get Enough of Shohei Ohtani
This could end up being a very historic year for Shohei Ohtani as he is doing his best to lead the Los Angeles Angels to the postseason for the first time since 2014 and finds himself in both the AL MVP race and the Cy Young race. All of this could go his way and he still has the option to leave the franchise immediately after.
No matter where Ohtani decides to go, he's going to break American Sports records with his next contract. Every contending team in the MLB is preparing for his upcoming free agency and reports are stating that he could see as much as $600 million coming his way. There is no other player currently who serves as a two-way weapon the way he does.
Therefore, everybody is trying to appreciate and be a part of what could be Ohtani's final season in Anaheim. His 30's are creeping up on him and he cannot waste any more years not competing for a World Series... he is far too talented.
He even had fans in Oakland at one point hoping that he would finish his game against them with a cycle. His popularity and stardom has grown at an insane rate and he's one of the biggest athletes in the world, not just in the country anymore.
Most recently, LA kicked off their weekend series against the Houston Astros and it was the legendary Reggie Jackson who had to chop it up with Ohtani for a bit before the game and pay his respects.
“I just told him that ‘You’re a great player, I enjoy watching you,’” Jackson said moments after the meeting. “A class act. There’s probably really nobody to compare him to. You have to compare him to a hitter or compare him to a pitcher. He’s an absolute marvel.”

We do not blame you at all Reggie!
