The 2023 season was another frustrating one for the Los Angeles Angels, and they saw their long playoff drought continue. The team hasn’t reached the postseason since 2014, and things don’t seem to be getting much better going forward either.

This organization has been stuck in the mud so to speak for years now, and they have been decimated by injuries each year as well. Well, the team decided to try and end that starting next year, as they made some changes to their coaching staff once the year concluded.

“After the Angels’ season was derailed by injuries, Minasian said they decided to replace strength and conditioning coaches Matt Tenney and Adam Auer. They are currently looking for their replacements.”

The injuries that multiple players suffered were costly for the Angels this season, and they turned a promising season into another poor one. Some were unavoidable since that is just how sports are, but there are methods that teams can put into place to help neutralize things.

The Halos haven’t done a great job over time in making sure their players are in great condition, and it has hurt them on the field. General Manager Perry Minasian spoke about the decision to move on from their conditioning coaches, and he is looking forward to a more clean bill of health next year.

“We did have a large number of obliques and other things that we feel like there’s a possibility we can address those,” Minasian said. “Maybe warm up a little different, do some things from an activation standpoint before games, do some things after games from a recovery standpoint. Hopefully, we can make some adjustments to see those IL numbers decline.”

If the Angels can find a way to stay healthy next season, maybe they can be a competitive team, no matter who is on the roster. They haven't had much luck in that category of late, but they're hoping that things can change sooner rather than later.
