The Los Angeles Angels, coming off a series sweep of the New York Yankees, are welcoming the Pittsburgh Pirates into town for a three-game series starting this weekend.

While every game feels like must-win with the trade deadline rapidly approaching and the fate of Shohei Ohtani up in the air, Friday's game has a little extra on the line.

The Angels enter Friday's game having hit a home run in 18 consecutive games. If that seems like a lot, it is. And it's not only a lot — it has tied a franchise record.

From July 26 to August 13 of 1982, the Angels had a home run in 18 straight games before that streak was snapped. Now, in 2023, that record could be broken.

The Angels have more than enough power hitters in the lineup on Friday to get it done, and are coming off a day off. Here's the lineup that will be looking to make history on Friday at Angel Stadium:

Shohei Ohtani is taking the mound on Friday, and it almost feels meant to be for him to hit the record-breaking home run the same game he's on the mound. However, Mickey Moniak has been red-hot lately, and Taylor Ward, Mike Moustakas and Hunter Renfroe can turn on one quickly.

Hopefully the Angels are able to make the history on Friday, as it'll be an incredible accomplishment for a team hovering around .500 and trying to get to the postseason for the first time since 2014.
