Angels News: Halos Prospects Make Impressive Strides in Updated Top 100 List
The Los Angeles Angels have been able to put some of their top prospects to good use during the 2023 season. The likes of Logan O'Hoppe, Zach Neto, Ben Joyce and more were all called up at some point for various reasons and were able to carve out immediate roles. It definitely was an interesting approach due to the importance of this season but seeing the rhythm the Halos are in right now, it's certainly worked.
Some of the Angels former top prospects were also traded away recently so they could land some experienced infielders in Eduardo Escobar and Mike Moustakas. Their value was clear and it's been a product of the Halos' front office realizing that they needed to get some real pitching depth behind Shohei Ohtani.
However, it's looking LA has a really bright future ahead of them when it comes to their catcher position as well. Logan O'Hoppe was a name I mentioned earlier and before he went down with a shoulder injury earlier this year, he was panning out very nicely. In 16 games with the Halos, he was able to slash .283/.339/.547 to go with four homers.
Bleacher Report just released their updated top 100 prospect rankings prior the MLB draft and O'Hoppe came in at number 24.
Egar Guerrero also just cracked the list at number 100 as he's been performing well this year.
"100. C Edgar Quero, LAA Catcher
Edgar Quero
won MVP honors in the Single-A California League last year when he hit .312/.435/.530 with 35 doubles, 17 home runs and 75 RBI in 111 games. The 20-year-old jumped straight to Double-A this year, and while his numbers have dipped, he still has a .397 on-base percentage and .750 OPS as one of the youngest players at that level."

Let's see how big of a role these two guys play in LA's success moving forward!
