The Los Angeles Angels are in the midst of some real problems. The team has freefallen down in the standings and they also are dealing with multiple injuries to some key contributors. They only have a few more weeks until the MLB trade deadline and they will need to decide how to proceed. Will they be sellers and trade off some assets for future capital? Or will they go all-in and be buyers despite their longshot playoff odds?

With the impending free agency of two-way star Shohei Ohtani coming this offseason, the Angels must make some tough choices on what direction they will go and right now, nobody truly knows where they stand. But depending how the next few weeks go, we will get more of a clear understanding. But for now, the team just needs to keep pushing along in the best way they can.

Adding insult to injury, the team received some less than positive news regarding their injured infielder Brandon Drury on Saturday. Drury has been out for a few weeks at this point, dealing with a shoulder issue. The team was hopeful to get him back right after the All-Star break but now it’s looking like it’ll be a little longer.

He did swing off a tee today and will continue to do so for a few days. But he isn’t where he needs now to be to return to the field.

Prior to the injury, Drury was one of the key players for the Angels this season, averaging .277 with 14 home runs and 45 runs batted in. He has been one of the more reliable players in the Angels lineup so having him miss more time hurts.

The hope is that Drury will be able to return to the team soon to help them get back into contention. However the clock is ticking on the Angels to decide how to proceed at the trade deadline and they don’t have a ton of time to waste.
