Angels News: Jo Adell Beginning Rehab Assignment in AAA

In this story:
As the Los Angeles Angels season enters the final few weeks, they do have some players trying to return from different injuries. One of those is outfielder Jo Adell, who has been dealing with a strained oblique injury for the last few months.
Adell is all set to begin his rehab assignment at Salt Lake City, and then, possibly make his way back to the big leagues.
“Jo Adell, who has been out with a strained oblique since early July, is going to play for Salt Lake on Friday. Adell will be the DH.”
Per Jeff Fletcher of The OC Register
If he can have a successful rehab stint, it would open the door for him to come back this season. With nothing really to play for over the last few weeks, the Angels could look for him to get some extra reps before heading into the offseason.
Manager Phil Nevin provided a little more information on when we could expect him back with the Halos.
“He’ll be able to play over the weekend,” Nevin said. “What that means, timetable wise, I’m not sure.”
Per The OC Register
On the year, Adell is hitting .231 with one home run and three runs batted in over only five games played.
After all, Adell is still a newer player in the major leagues, making his debut in 2020, so any extra time spent can certainly help in the future. Plus, he projects to be a mainstay with the team going forward if he can figure things out and stay healthy.
The Angels roster could look very different come next season. Both of their star players in Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout could be gone, and they could move towards a rebuilding path.
It’s unlikely that they take this route, but they do have some nice pieces to work around. Getting Adell back in the mix this season could help ease any concerns that they may have.
It’s been a long season for the Halos, but all they can do now is put their best foot forward the rest of the way. The offseason will be here soon, and then, any big changes can be made.
