Jo Adell has reported to Triple-A Salt Lake but is reportedly still not healthy enough to play in any games.

He is mostly just taking his rehab from Arizona to Salt Lake and Phil Nevin is skeptical if the prospect can return in 2023.

“Where that puts him on a timetable for this year, I’m not sure if he’s going to be able to get in a game yet,” Nevin said. “We’ll see how the next few days in Salt Lake go for him.”

Adell was placed on the 60-day injured list with an oblique injury back in early July and the prospect has been rehabbing ever since.

Adell has had a rough time getting up to the show as he's struggled to bring his consistent bat to the MLB level.

Since being called up to the Angels clubhouse Adell has not produced with the bat, being a career .215 hitter in the bigs with a .625 OPS. The 2023 season looked a little different as in the 5 games Adell did play, he had a .978 OPS. But the oblique injury shut him down for now possibly the year.

Adell was teasing a return a week ago but seems to not be progressing the way doctors and team officials had hoped.

The once young prospect is now 24 and can't manage to stay healthy in the bigs — and when he is able to play he has struggled to put up numbers remotely close to his stats in Triple-A.

But with rumors that Trout may be on the trade block this offseason, the Halos may look to Adell to finally take over that centerfield position next year as the team looks to get younger and rebuild.
