Suffering a wrist injury in early July, Angels' superstar Mike Trout's return to game action could be sooner rather than later.

Sharing his thoughts on his recovery from the ailment, Trout was positive about coming back this season to help the team's playoff push.

“It’s getting better every day. Just taking it day by day. Hitting (off) the machine. The progress has been great. A little funny, but nothing that holds me back.”

One key difference for Trout compared to the last two seasons is that his current injury has no chance of worsening unlike his previous calf and back setbacks from 2021 and 2022.

Despite the former MVP's hope to get back to his position in center, it may all be a wasted effort considering the Angels' recent performance.

Even after winning two games against the Giants, the team has dropped a series to Houston and just lost 12-0 to open their series against another divisional foe in the Texas Rangers.

With Trout and countless other names on the shelf for the team, Shohei Ohtani has done a majority of the heavy lifting for the team, but even the unicorn has shown to be human.

Suffering from fatigue, Ohtani's next start was pushed back to next week after he was scheduled to pitch against the division leading Rangers.

Skipper Phil Nevin has to be frustrated despite confidence from his GM Perry Minasian that the roster simply hasn't panned out to this point from one reason or another.

Injuries and ineffective play from trade deadline pieces have tanked the team's roster and the Halos sit under .500 once again.

This familiar territory has become equally frustrating for Anaheim's fans seeing their team fall short annually, but if the team loses Shohei Ohtani by winter, the franchise may have an even deeper grave to dig.
