The Los Angeles Angels have been on a rollercoaster ride the past decade with very few moments of actual peaks due to roster management and poor luck. They last saw the playoffs back in 2014 with a completely different group and even though they acquired a generational talent in Shohei Ohtani, the results have not been much better.

However, the 2023 season could change all of that as LA remains in the playoff race and have depth on their side that they haven't seen in years. Carlos Estevez has stepped up huge at the mound, Zach Neto and Mickey Moniak have found key roles in their first year with the franchise, and their superstars have been performing up to par.

And even though Mike Trout hasn't exactly been able to find his power swing as of late, he has still an electric first two months of the year. Through 60 games in 2023, he is slashing .262/.361/.493 and has 14 home runs on the year thus far as he has already been able to crack numerous records.

A Flashback To History

But Trout has been doing this for a long time. Everybody is well-aware that if not for a long history injuries, he would have already reached greater heights.

However, Bleacher Report experts Zachary Rhymer and Joel Reuter were debating about which rookie campaigns have stuck out to them the most and Trout's 2011/2012 showcase was among the top ones.

"I suppose the obvious pick here is a certain someone who came across the Pacific Ocean in 2001, but I'm instead going to wrap myself in the warm blanket that is Mike Trout's 2012 season. It's hard to fathom just what a sensation he was that year. He hit .326! He cranked 30 home runs! He stole 49 bases! He made

that

catch in Baltimore and generally played Gold Glove-caliber defense. By the end he had amassed

10.5 rWAR

, which is (and it's hard to believe this is true but it is) almost 2 rWAR better than any other rookie hitter has ever had in a season."

We still have many more seasons of greatness ahead from him!
