Angels News: Patrick Sandoval Critical of Himself After Short Outing
Playing the AL West leaders in the Texas Rangers, the Halos dropped another game in embarrassing fashion without much margin for error remaining on the year.
One of the main culprits in the loss was Patrick Sandoval who struggled with one of the worst starts of his season at the worst possible time.
“I played like crap tonight. I just didn’t pick up my teammates. It’s tough whenever you go out like that and get pulled in the third inning. Putting your team in a hole like that, it’s tough. I definitely have to be better and pitch better.”

Struggling with his control after walking six men in less than three innings of work, the constant traction on the basepaths built up Sandoval's pitch count rapidly.
When the lefty gave way to Griffin Canning, the Rangers had already built a sizeable lead and would eventually go on to win the game 12-0.
Sandoval's counterpart on the evening twirled a gem as Max Scherzer had his best start for the Rangers since coming over in a trade to dominate the Angels bats all night long.
A humiliating loss had Halos skipper Phil Nevin scrambling for answers but even he wasn't going to blame the loss entirely on Sandoval's poor showing.
“There wasn’t anything good about today. I’ll just leave it at that. It’s not just one player, it was everybody.”

With the defeat, the Angels continue to sink further into the standings and drop games that they simply need to win at this point in the season to keep a postseason hope alive.
Many questions remain on the status of stars like Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon, but for the time being their lack of availability has the entire roster in flux.
Such lacking consistency has plagued the Angels all season long and another losing seems all but inevitable at this point in the year.
