Angels News: Phil Nevin Wants to Stay in Anaheim Next Season
Angels skipper Phil Nevin's first full season on the job hasn't exactly been a Disney movie like the city's known for after another losing year without playoff baseball.
Speculation continues to swirl about his job status, though the current Halos manager stated his desire for a return to the team's dugout for 2024.
“I love being here,” Nevin said. “I love everything about it. Even coming and sitting with (the media) every day. And you know how I feel about the players and the staff and the relationships I build with the staff and everybody. Of course I want to be here. This is a dream job for me. I’m home and I’m doing what I love to do.”

Nevin's impact on his players is evident after Mike Trout's recent press conference mentioned support for the first full year Anaheim skipper.
However, there's much more to being a manager than the simple fact that your players respect your direction.
The Angels faltered this year through both their many injuries and a lack of late-game execution in their second half.
Nevin's lineup and rotation both suffered catastrophic collapses on and off the field through both injury and ineffectiveness without their superstars Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.
Due to Ohtani's impending free agency, the 52-year-old manager's roster could look entirely different should he come back to Anaheim next season.
If the Japanese superstar departs, Angel Stadium won't have much veteran talent to cheer for in the lineup outside of Anthony Rendon's massive contract and Mike Trout's aging and injured production.
Though rookies Nolan Schanuel, Logan O'Hoppe and Zach Neto will be the next faces of Angels baseball, the immediate future looks bleak no matter who manages the roster without Ohtani and possibly Trout should he finally request a trade.
