Angels News: Shohei Ohtani Praised By Peers, ‘Arguably the Best Player Ever’
The “best player ever” is a heavy crown to wear but it’s not everyday that you see opposing players praising an opponent to that extent. The greatness of Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani is unmatched and unlike anything that we have seen in a long time. Not since the days of Babe Ruth have baseball fans been given the honor to watch a player dominate on both the pitching mound and at the plate.
Ohtani has dazzled baseball fans with his two-way brilliance since he entered the league back in 2017. He did deal with some injuries early in his career but has since been a durable player that continues to amaze. He is a league MVP, a three-time All-Star and just overall indescribable as a player. Maybe best ever could describe him but Ohtani still has a long career ahead of him.
He recently faced off against the San Diego Padres and their All-Star caliber lineup and they had plenty to say about the Angels superstar.
“Arguably the best player ever,” Jake Cronenworth said. “You get an opportunity to face a guy like that, it’s always a fun competition.”

It didn't stop there despite the fact that the Padres got the best of Ohtani in the outing. He did end up leaving the game due to a blister issue but we can't take anything away from San Diego for being aggressive at the plate against him.
“Obviously, we know the importance of every game,” Xander Bogaerts said. “Today we faced a really good pitcher — one of the best in the game, one of the best athletes in the world.”

Clearly Ohtani has respect around the league and it shows in the way that his peers talk about him. He is truly a unicorn and it's a big reason as to why he is in line to become the first $500 million-plus player in MLB history this winter.
“He’s one of the best hitters in baseball, and he’s one of the best pitchers,” Cronenworth said. “Nobody else can say that. The last guy that was able to do it was Babe Ruth, and he stopped pitching.”
