Angels Rookie Logan O'Hoppe Putting Together a Record Chasing Month of September
One of the Los Angeles Angels best young players continues to shine in the month of September. Catcher Logan O’Hoppe hit his eighth home run in the month, joining some elite company in franchise history.
He put his name on the list for the most home runs hit in a month by an Angels rookie. Currently, he sits in fifth place with his eight, but with a few games left to go in the month, he could possibly surpass the guys ahead of him.
This includes teammates Mike Trout and Jared Walsh, so O’Hoppe is among strong company here. It has been a great few weeks for O’Hoppe, as he continues to get fully back into rhythm from his injury earlier in the year. But it seems that he is doing just fine, and it has been showing on the field.
For the season, he is hitting .228 with 13 home runs and 27 runs batted in. He has only appeared in 46 games this year, but he is making the most of the time that he has seen.
O’Hoppe is the likely catcher of the future for the Halos, so getting this experience should only help him going forward. He has been consistent when in the lineup, and it has translated to big success on the field for the team.
He will be one of the main players to help take this Angels team forward, especially if they see some major roster restructure this offseason. The 23-year-old is still learning, but he seems to be showing that he deserves to stay in the big leagues.
This power surge for him likely will give him confidence as the team enters the offseason. He can take this hot streak, and continue building his game for next season.
The Angels will be banking on another strong outing from their young catcher next year, and O’Hoppe looks like he could be up for the challenge.
