As the Los Angeles Angels are in dire need of making a splash in free agency this offseason, one insider believes that they have a legitimate shot at signing Blake Snell.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today believes that Snell will likely sign with the Angels during spring training.

"Blake Snell will still be a free agent when spring training hits with teams continuing to balk at his asking price in excess of $200 million. The Los Angeles Angels are the strongest suitor at this juncture."

Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today

With Snell hitting free agency for the first time, it appears that he is willing to take his time before he signs. As Nightengale mentioned, the Angels would be his strongest suitor if he does decide to wait all the way up to spring training.

Despite reports that they would be aggressive this offseason, the Angels have constantly missed out on free agents, as they were runners-up for Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez.

Right now, the Angels roster currently ranks among the worst in the MLB. One big part of that is due to the lack of starting pitching. The front office has been looking around the league for pitching help all offseason.

The Angels are currently without an ace, and the opportunity to sign Snell should be a no-brainer. They need a true veteran to lead this pitching staff in 2024, which is what Snell could provide.

Snell is coming off a career year, in which he won the National League Cy Young award. He finished the year with a 14-9 record, an ERA of 2.25 and throwing 234 strikeouts.
