Angels utility man Luis Rengifo was forced to exit the Angels' Cactus League game early on Tuesday after getting injured running to first base.

Rengifo exited in the first inning with a trainer.

The Angels have announced that Rengifo exited with left hamstring tightness.

Unfortunately, Rengifo also dealt with left hamstring issues earlier this spring in February, so it's not a good sign that it's flaring back up again less than 10 days before Opening Day.

Rengifo is expected to play a big role for the Angels, moving all around the diamond and getting consistent at-bats this season.

This spring, Rengifo has gotten off to a slow start, going 6-for-30 with a .459 OPS and one stolen base.

Hopefully this isn't too serious, but it's definitely not a good sign with Opening Day just nine days away and this being his second instance of hamstring tightness in spring training.

The Angels are already short in the infield with Michael Stefanic also dealing with a quad injury.

Additionally, Nolan Schanuel was scratched from the lineup on Monday and wasn't in there again on Tuesday. Manager Ron Washington is hoping he'll be back in there on Wednesday as he deals with back tightness.
