Shohei Ohtani Rumors: Angels Still Among Top Landing Spots for Two-Way Superstar, Says Insider
With the Los Angeles Angels offseason starting to really get into everything, the biggest aspect on everyone’s mind is what will happen with two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani will be a free agent this winter, and he is expected to leave the only organization that he has been a part of in the MLB.
While it remains unlikely that Ohtani will stay with the Halos, you can never count it out. He has enjoyed his time with the team, and he is comfortable there, which is something that you can’t put a price on.
But his desire to win at a high level will likely see him jump ship. However, insider Mark Feinsand of MLB.com broke down the free agency of Ohtani and listed the Angels as a good fit for the two-way superstar.
Even with a torn UCL that required a second elbow surgery, Ohtani is easily the top free agent on this year’s market. It remains to be seen if/when Ohtani will return to the mound, but his offensive profile alone -- which compares favorably to Aaron Judge, who signed for nine years and $360 million last year -- should land him a deal in that range, as he’s more than a year younger than Judge was when he reached free agency.”

Even without him pitching in 2024, Ohtani is still a very valuable piece to whatever team he signs with. His bat alone is worthy of an MVP award, so he will still get a very hefty contract this offseason.
“Most expect him to pitch again no later than 2025, and it’s possible his deal goes far beyond Judge’s, though the guaranteed dollars are sure to take a hit from what they would have been without the injury.”
Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com
Everything and anything regarding the Angels offseason starts with what happens with Ohtani. Once that is all settled, the Angels can fully go about their winter plans to their full extent.
