Watch: Shohei Ohtani Rocks Angels New Home Run Hat for the 1st Time
We're bound to see plenty of home runs from Shohei Ohtani this season considering that he already has three and he notched 34 of them in 2022. Whenever he did so last year, he rocked their signature cowboy hat.
However, there is a whole new look in Los Angeles now and Mike Trout was the first to introduce the world to it.
It was reported that the new hat is heavily inspired by the Kabuto Samurai helmet that represents a key component of Japanese art and culture. Fans have theorized that it symbolizes many other things as well such as unity and protection for their team.
Shohei Ohtani had the pleasure of wearing it for the first time in the Angels' Sunday loss against the Toronto Blue Jays. He bombed a home run in the fourth inning and was met with the shiny accessory after rounding the bases.
Hopefully many other Angels players continue to wear this hat and run up the score each game as this season is one of the most important in the franchises' history. LA is currently fifth in the league in total home runs so far with 15.
Outside of Trout and Ohtani, other players have stepped up so far and the Halos sit at a 5-4 record. Staying above .500 will do for now but that win column will hopefully jump as these next weeks go on.
