Houston Astros Go with Battle Tested Lineup Against Rangers in Game 1 of ALCS

The Houston Astros have set their batting order for their first playoff game against in-state rival Texas in the ALCS.

The Houston Astros have set their lineup for Game 1 of the American League Championship Series with the Texas Rangers, which starts on Sunday at Minute Maid Park.

Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Fox. The game will be the first postseason meeting between the Astros and the Rangers.

The Astros are hosting the first two games of the series as they won a tiebreaker with the Rangers after the two teams tied for the American League West title. The Astros won the season series, 9-4, giving them home field advantage in the best-of-seven series.

The Astros’ lineup and batting order for Game 1 will include:

1. Jose Altuve, 2B

2. Alex Bregman, 3B

3. Yordan Alvarez, DH

4. José Abreu, 1B

5. Kyle Tucker, RF

6. Chas McCormick, LF

7. Mauricio Dubón, CF

8. Jeremy Peña, SS

9. Martín Maldonado, C

Pitcher — Justin Verlander

The most notable changes from Game 4 of the ALDS is that Dubón is in the lineup in center field and batting seventh, and Astros manager Dusty Baker flipped Abreu into the clean-up spot and moved Tucker to fifth, which breaks up his left-handed hitters against Rangers left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery.

The Rangers set their lineup and batting order for Game 1 as well:

1. Marcus Semien, 2B

2. Corey Seager, SS

3. Mitch Garver, DH

4. Adolis García, RF

5. Evan Carter, LF

6. Jonah Heim, C

7. Nathaniel Lowe, 1B

8. Josh Jung, 3B

9. Leody Taveras, CF

Pitcher — Jordan Montgomery

The Rangers’ batting order is the same as their batting order from their three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS.
