Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez is proving to be a one-of-a-kind, generational MLB player.

His pure hitting skills put him on par, if not at the very top of the list of MLB's best hitters.

And with the bright lights of the MLB postseason underway, he isn't backing down.

In the first three games against the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS, Alvarez has slugged four home runs. That's a crazy number for any three-game stretch, much less in the postseason.

According to MLB.com, those four home runs in his first three games of the postseason are tied for the most with Juan Gonzalez and Bob Robertson. He also sits just one home run shy of the home run record in a five-game series. Both Ken Griffey Jr. and Gonzalez have done it.

Alvarez has proven throughout the last two seasons that he is a true and bonafide superstar. He helped propel the Astros to a World Series in 2022 and is now helping lead them to yet another ALCS berth this season.

Four home runs in three games goes a long way in that endeavor.

The most surprising part of it all is that it isn't even remotely surprising that he is doing this. The record for most home runs in a five-game postseason series is up for grabs and it wouldn't be even remotely shocking to see Alvarez snatch the history book and ink his name in it one more time.

He will have that chance on Wednesday when Houston takes on the Twins in Game 3 at Target Field. First pitch is slated for 6:07 p.m. CT.
