Grading Michael Harris for the 2023 season

Defense: A+

Michael Harris II was a web-gem waiting to happen in Center Field. He had the third-highest putouts for a center fielder in the National League with 306, the second-highest number of assists as a center fielder in the NL with 8, and the fourth-highest fielding percentage for center fielders in the NL with a .994. In 138 games in CF, Harris made only two errors. One was a fielding error and one was a throwing error. He was phenomenal.

Offense: A-

Harris's batting average dipped down from .297 to .293 this year, but that is still really good. It's got to be the highest batting average for anyone hitting in the No. 9 hole in a lineup. He had 33 doubles, 18 homers, and 57 RBI in the 2023 season. He had a great REGULAR season. Here is the issue. Harris has not been able to hit in the playoffs. In two playoff series, the 2022 NLDS and the 2023 NLDS, Harris went 1-for-27 (.037) from the plate with five strikeouts. Those numbers won't get the job done. Maybe that is why some Braves pundits are calling for Atlanta to trade him.

Michael Harris II's contract status

Michael Harris II signed an 8-year/$72 Million contract with the Braves in 2023 as Alex Anthopolus locked the star center fielder down until 2030, with a club option for 2031 and 2032. Harris II is set to make $5 Million in 2024.
