Takeaways: Braves finish season sweep of Rockies with 7-3 victory

The Braves season finale against the Rockies accurately depicts how things have gone between the two clubs this season

On a historic night for the Atlanta Braves, the team with the best record in baseball picked up a 7-3 win over the Colorado Rockies.

The Braves posted a perfect 7-0 record against the Rockies this season.

Welcome to the Show, Darius Vines

Darius Vines got the start for the Braves in his Major League debut this evening. The 25-year-old rookie from Oxnard, California dealt.

In six innings of work, Vines allowed two runs off of four hits, walked one batter and struck out five.

The rotation has been shaky for the Braves this season, but consistent play from Vines could help remedy that with the Postseason approaching.

The Braves keep making history

There is not much the Braves have not accomplished this season and at times it feels like the club is achieving a milestone every night.

Tonight the Braves broke the franchise record for most home runs in a single season.

Designated hitter Marcell Ozuna tied the record with a bomb to left field in the top of the sixth inning. Two batters later, shortstop Orlando Arcia sent a two-run shot to left-center for the 250th Atlanta home run of the season.

With a month left to play, the Braves will have time to produce a seemingly untouchable number of long balls on the season.

Michael Harris II had a series to remember

Center fielder Michael Harris II is having a solid season and Coors Field was especially good to him.

In game one, Harris put together a 2-4 night and scored twice. In the second game, Harris went 3-4. The final game was relatively quiet for Harris, but he went 1-4 and picked up an RBI off an infield single in the sixth inning.

What's next?

The Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in a crucial series for National League playoff position, with home field advantage for the postseason potentially being on the line.

First pitch at Dodger Stadium is set for 10:10 p.m. ET/9:10 p.m. CT and will be televised on Bally Sports South throughout Braves Country and nationally on MLB.tv. The radio broadcast can be heard in the Atlanta metro area on 680 The Fan, across the Southeast on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network and nationally on MLB.tv.
