The Atlanta Braves select Garrett Baumann/RHP in the fourth round of the MLB Draft
The Braves continue their trend of taking right-handed pitchers as they take an absolute physical specimen in the fourth round. Baumann is 6'8, 245 pounds, and has a three-pitch repertoire of a fastball, slider, and changeup.
At just 18 years old, he has plenty of time to grow in the minor leagues as the Braves develop him. Baumann was committed to Central Florida, but the Braves will probably buy him out of that commitment.

Big and strong with that extra-large frame, Baumann has plenty to dream on. In shorter stints over the summer, Baumann was up as high as 97 mph with his fastball, but he’s generally around 93 mph with his heater that features some sink. Right now, his changeup is his best secondary offering, thrown up to the mid-80s with decent fade and sold with arm speed. His breaking ball is behind and inconsistent, a slider that can be good at times, but it gets slurvy and lacks bite to be an out pitch, though some scouts believe he has enough feel for spin for it to be a decent option in the future. - Top Baseball Draft Prospects | MLB.com
