Ozuna did what he does best this year, hit homers.

Grading Ozuna's season as a Designated Hitter

Hitting: A

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

This was Marcell Ozuna's best full-season at the plate since 2018 in St. Louis. I say that because technically his 2020 season was his best statistical year. I am not counting that because it was only a 60-game season. Usually, we would look at the defensive stats of a player and grade them but Ozuna only played two games in the outfield. He made his mark as a Designated Hitter.

Ozuna finished the season with 40 homers. That is the most single-season homers in his 11-year career. He had the second-most RBI, Runs, Total Bases, and doubles of his career in 2023, only behind his 2017 season. He was worth every penny of the $16 Million we paid him.

Marcell Ozuna's contract status

Marcell Ozuna is entering the last year of his 4-year/$65 Million contract that he signed with Atlanta in 2021. He will make $16 Million this year and if he performs well, AA may choose to pick up the club option on his contract for 2025, his age 34 season.
