Braves Briefing: Upcoming Atlanta vs Los Angeles series dubbed as one of the most important series
Not all series are equal.
MLB.com released a list of the best series remaining during the 2023 MLB season and how these series could impact the postseason.
The first series listed was Atlanta's upcoming date with the Los Angeles Dodgers in a four-game series that takes place from August 31st to September 3rd.
Here's what MLB.com's Will Leitch wrote about the important series.
Both teams are comfortably in first place and all but certain to punch tickets to the postseason before September is half over. But, as great as the Braves have been this year, the recent tear the Dodgers have been on has put them within shouting distance of Atlanta for the No. 1 seed in the National League. They’re only three games behind in the loss column at this point, and these two teams will play four at Chavez Ravine over Labor Day Weekend.
This is about more than just playoff positioning, though. These have been the two teams in the National League for the last half-decade, and in many ways, their battles are attempts to stake a claim for the current NL dynasty. Four of the past six times the Braves have reached the postseason, they’ve played the Dodgers, only beating them (finally) in 2021 en route to their World Series title. They may just meet each other again this year, making this an intriguing preview.
Hard to argue with any of that. The Dodgers lead the season series 2-1.

Lindsay Crosby led our coverage of Atlanta's 3-2 series-clinching win over the New York Mets Tuesday night. He highlighted Eddie Rosario's performance.
In his first game in the lineup since being named NL Player of the Week, Eddie Rosario continued to shine. The left fielder went 2-3 with 2 RBIs, a run scored, and even reached base on a strikeout when the ball passed young catcher Francisco Alvarez.
But that wasn't even the most impressive moment of the night from Eddie.
Rosario opened the night with an incredibly high degree of difficulty catch, robbing Francisco Lindor of at least two bases in the 1st inning.

What's next for the Atlanta Braves?
Atlanta looks to take the series in the finale tonight in Truist Park. Charlie Morton's on the bump, facing off with Mets lefty Jose Quintana. It's a sequel of the "Legends Booth", with the 7:20 PM ET broadcast being helmed by Jeff Francoeur, John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, and Chipper Jones and available on Bally Sports South.
