In 2023, Pierce Johnson proved that sometimes all you need is a change of scenery. Johnson started the season with the Colorado Rockies, a team that notoriously plays in one of the most hitter-friendly ballparks, Coors Field. With the Rockies, Johnson had a 1-5 record with a 6.00 ERA. Not great! 

Those stats are why some Braves fans were scratching their heads when Alex Anthopoulos decided to trade for Johnson. When Johnson got to Atlanta, he was an entirely different pitcher. He was phenomenal out of the bullpen for the Braves as he had a 1-1 record with a 0.76 ERA as he only allowed two earned runs in 23.2 innings.

Pierce Johnson's performance with the Braves in 2023 was so good that AA signed him to a two-year contract extension through 2025 with a club option for 2026. Johnson is set to make $7M in '24 and '25.
