Podcast: Could the Atlanta Braves bring in a Cy Young winner?

We talk about two pitchers that Atlanta could pursue on today's Braves Today Podcast.

The Atlanta Braves may have the chance to bring in some pretty special pitching to help bolster the rotation. On today's Braves Today Podcast, Ben Taylor and Lindsay Crosby speculate and break down if it would make sense for the Atlanta Braves to pursue Blake Snell or Aaron Nola.

Braves today has Nola ranked as the fourth-best free agent available on our Free Agency Rankings. Here's his bio:

Aaron Nola's been an ironman at the top of the Phillies rotation, going on the IL only once since 2018. His ERA hasn't been consistent, but Philly's defense also hasn't been that great and so putting him in front of a top-tier defensive lineup could unlock a new level of dominance for the 30 year-old.

We also have Snell ranked highly - he's the sixth-best available free agent in our rankings.

Snell might win the NL Cy Young this season, which certainly would help his free agent case, but he's not a slam dunk top-tier pitching option. He leads all of baseball in ERA (2.25) and ERA+ (182), but also walks (99) and walk rate (5.8). The 30 year-old ran an expected ERA (3.77) and Fielding Independent Pitching (3.44) both significantly above his ERA, so regression is undoubtedly coming.
