Atlanta Braves Star Expected To Lead MLB In Very Important Stat

The Atlanta Braves are in a great spot heading into 2024.

The Atlanta Braves are in a great spot to be the best teams in the MLB in 2024.

They have elite hitters like Ronald Acuña Jr., Austin Riley, and Matt Olson.

The Braves also have stellar pitching from the mound that should keep them in a lot of games. Spencer Strider is the headliner on the pitching staff, and his projections have him at 4.0 wins above replacement. That's the most among pitchers in all of baseball.

Here's the full list of Atlanta Braves pitchers and their projected Wins above replacement, per FanGraphs.

Spencer Strider - 4.9 WAR
Max Fried - 3.5
Chris Sale - 2.8
Charlie Morton - 2.1
Bryce Elder - 1.2
A.J. Minter - 1.2
Huascar Ynoa - 0.7
Raisel Iglesias - 1.0

Strider recorded a WAR of 3.4 last season. He went 20-5 and had an ERA of 3.86. He had an incredible 281 strikeouts for the Atlanta Braves last season. He's expected to take a step forward as an elite pitcher in 2024. The Atlanta Braves added another arm in the starting rotation by trading for Sale. Atlanta could also call on some prospects to follow inline behind Strider this season.

Hurston Waldrep and AJ Smith-Shawver are both expected to make starts for the Braves in 2024 to help add depth to the rotation and put Atlanta in position to make another push for solid postseason seeding like a season ago.

Of course the goal will be to keep the positive play going into the postseason and find a way to make a run deeper than waht they've seen the past two seasons.
