Player Snapshot: Vaughn Grissom

Vaughn Grissom was expected to be the Braves opening-day shortstop in 2023 after bursting onto the scene last season.
Things started to seem fishy when he didn't play the field in four straight spring training games. He was then sent to Triple-A Gwinnett.
This has led many to believe that Orlando Arcia could be the Braves starting shortstop in 2023.
Let's look at Grissom's numbers from his short time with the big league club a season ago.
2022: .291 BA/ 41 H/ 18 RBI/ 5 HR/ 6 2B/ 11 BB/ 5 SB/ 41 G
The numbers were terrific in a short sample size, which had every Braves fan excited for what 2023 would hold for the 22-year-old shortstop.
Some reports have come out stating the reason Grissom is no longer participating in spring training with the big league club could have to do with a hernia.
The hope is that if this injury news is correct, he could heal up and be back with the Braves sooner rather than later.
Something seemed off with that treport, however, as the shines flashed by Grissom a season ago had future All-Star written all over them.
