WATCH: Bizarre defense and an umpire review lead to critical insurance run for the Braves

Your guess on what Jeff McNeil was doing is as good as anyone's

It's been an interesting night at Truist Park, with some trash talk, some weird defense, and a tense battle between division rivals. The weird defense has been spread out between the two teams, but the Mets have been committed more than their share of critical blunders. Jeff McNeil couldn't make a play on what ended up being a double for Austin Riley that jumpstarted Atlanta's big sixth-inning rally. And McNeil was just getting started apparently.

That quick game of hot potato allowed Eddie Rosario to reach third base. (He was credited with a double on the play.) Also I'm a big fan of the Braves on Bally account dunking on the Mets due to Pete Alonso's earlier antics.

Ozzie Albies was intentionally walked, and with runners on the corners and one out, Marcell Ozuna hit a grounder to short. Francisco Lindor made an excellent play for what appeared initially to be an inning-ending twin-killing. But Albies was running on the play, and he immediately gestured for the Braves' dugout to take another look. They did, and Brian Snitker asked for a review, which revealed that, yes, he beat the rap at second, thus allowing Rosario to score a huge insurance run. The Braves carry a 6-4 lead into the ninth.

Tomorrow's broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
