WATCH: Kevin Pillar gets the Braves on the board with a ground-rule double

Atlanta has once again taken an early lead in a road game.

While the Braves changed it up tonight and didn't score in the top of the first, they've still jumped ahead of the homestanding San Diego Padres in the early going.

Despite being in an 0-2 hole, Kevin Pillar got a middle-middle meatball from Padres starter Blake Snell and promptly deposited it in the left-field corner. In a bad break for the Braves, the ball one-hopped over the short fence out there, thus keeping Vaughn Grissom from scoring from first. As it stands, Sean Murphy came around to score, giving Atlanta and starting pitcher Spencer Strider an early 1-0 lead as they look to take the series tonight at Petco Park.

Tomorrow's game is a late afternoon affair for Braves fans, with first pitch scheduled for 4:10 ET. The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South, and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
