WATCH: Orlando Arcia drives in the first run of the Braves’ season

Orlando Arcia celebrates his new contract extension by driving in his first RBI of the 2023 season

Orlando Arcia laced a drive into shallow right that plated Michael Harris III for the first run of the Braves’ season.

Orlando, who signed a new contract extension (3 year / $7,300,000 contract with the Atlanta Braves, including $7,300,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $2,433,333. In 2023, Arcia will earn a base salary of $2,300,000, while carrying a total salary of $2,300,000) delivers in his first at-bat in his first start at shortstop for the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta ended their half of the inning adding two more runs, one of which was a base on balls run, yet squander another opportunity with the bases loaded. Once again, errors plagued the defense in the bottom half of the inning giving one run back to the Nationals. Max Fried, once again, bails the team out and pitches out of trouble limiting the damage. The sun, plus opening day jitters, seem to be affecting both teams as this game has started off by looking very sloppy defensively.

At the end of two the Braves lead 3-1.
