Hanging sliders get punished at Truist Park

The Marlins have had a horrible time putting Atlanta batters away tonight, and that continued in the bottom of the sixth. After multiple two-strike mistakes were turned into RBI base-hits in the fourth, lefty reliever Andrew "the Nard Dog" Nardi found himself ahead of Ozzie Albies 0-2. Nardi went with the slider, and Ozzie took advantage.

The diminutive second-sacker showed off that right-handed power by driving the off-speed pitch just over the wall in left, quietly tying Matt Olson and Sean Murphy for the team lead with his sixth homer of the season and extending his team RBI lead (22). The Braves move into the late innings with a 5-1 lead and Charlie Morton still on the bump.

The two clubs are back at it again tomorrow night at 7:20 Eastern, televised by Bally Sports South. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
