WATCH: Ozzie Albies takes Sandy Alcantara deep to give Braves early lead at Miami

The Atlanta second-baseman moves into a three-way tie for the team lead in homers

Runs look to be at a premium tonight at loanDepot Park (ugh, that name) with reigning NL CY Young Award-winner Sandy Alcantara on the mound for Miami. The Marlins ace pitched well at Truist Park last week, but his bullpen let him down in a game the Braves stole with a late rally. This time, the visiting Bravos look to jump out early on the Fish, something the team has been adept at doing so far this season. And something else the team has been adept at doing is smacking taters.

With one out in the top of the second, Ozzie Albies got a blistering 99-mph heater middle-in, and he turned on it, launching it into the seats down the right-field line. That's number eight on the season for Ozzie, which pulls him into a tie with Matt Olson and Sean Murphy for the team lead in bombs. It's also his fourth left-handed dinger of the season, pulling even with his right-handed home run total. Considering the general disparity between Ozzie's left and right-handed splits, that's a promising sign. (He has double the amount of plate appearances batting left-handed, but still.)

The Braves put more runners on later in the inning, but Alcantara limited the damage to just the lone run, putting Atlanta up 1-0 in the early going tonight. The broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
