The St. Louis Cardinals likely will be extremely busy this offseason.

St. Louis has mightily struggled this season but is loaded with talent. The Cardinals have an extremely solid core led by Nolan Arenado, Paul Goldschmidt, and Jordan Walker, but need to make another solid move or two this offseason to get back to the postseason.

The Cardinals' biggest issues certainly are in the starting rotation but it wouldn't be too surprising to see St. Louis add elsewhere, as well. One player who reportedly could be available and should at least warrant a second look is Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout. The 11-time All-Star reportedly could be dealt this offseason, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.

"The Los Angeles Angels, perhaps for the first time, are open to trading All-Star outfielder Mike Trout if he indicates to them that he wants out," Nightengale said. "Trout has exclusive no-trade rights and said recently that he wants to have a private conversation with the front office and ownership about their direction."

While the Cardinals don't seem like a perfect fit on first look, if a player of Trout's caliber somehow is available, you must at least take a look. Trout is one of, if not the best player in baseball when he is healthy. The three-time American League Most Valuable Player has struggled with injuries but still could take a team to another level.

St. Louis has a logjam in the outfield right now, but that may clear up through trades this offseason. The Cardinals have some intriguing trade pieces that could be of interest to Los Angeles. St. Louis could deal away Dylan Carlson or Tyler O'Neill. Plus, the Cardinals have some impressive young talent led by Walker, Lars Nootbaar, and shortstop Masyn Winn.

It's unclear what a trade package for Trout would look like, but St. Louis should at least consider a move if he ends up being available. A move may be extremely unlikely, but Cardinals fans at least should keep an eye on the Angels star.
