The Chicago Cubs lost some of their momentum on Friday night as they dropped the first of a three-game weekend series to the Miami Marlins

It stings that much more as it came via a Jean Segura walk-off single to center field that scored Luis Arraez.

The Cubs (14-11) were once again given a great performance from starter Marcus Stroman who pitched 6.1 innings, allowed just two earned runs and struck out three.

The only other run the pitching staff gave up was the winning run and that was off of right-hander Michael Rucker.

Offensively, the Cubs first of two runs came via Nelson Velazquez home run in the third inning. He drove the ball 384 feet to left field. It was his third of the season as he continues to show power after getting his second call up of the year.

The second run was from an Eric Hosmer RBBI-single in the seventh that scored Cody Bellinger as he showed off his wheels.

Chicago will look to get back on track as they play the second game on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3:05 p.m. CT and Caleb Kilian will make the start after being promoted from Triple-A Iowa.
