Marcus Stroman Records 1,000th Career Strikeout Against Dodgers
Chicago Cubs ace Marcus Stroman recorded his 1,000th career strikeout while on the mound against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon.
Sitting at 998 entering Sunday's game, his 999th strikeout came via a Mookie Betts strikeout as the star was caught looking. Stroman's 1,000th career strikeout came against star first baseman Freddie Freeman.
Betts got revenge off of Stroman just prior to the historic strikeout to tie the game 2-2. Stroman came right back and punched Freeman out with called strike on a fastball that hit 92.3-mph.
1,000 career strikeouts is a memorable milestone and what better way to do it then against a future Hall of Famer in Freeman.
One player on the field who knows the satisfaction of such a milestone is opposing starter Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers. Entering Sunday's game Kershaw had 2,833 strikeouts, one of the most impressive feats of any active pitcher.
Stroman now his his sights set on the next achievement.
