Wisdom is Back, Homers for Chicago Cubs Lead Over Cardinals
The Chicago Cubs are doing everything they can not to get swept by their National League Central archrival the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday.
Heartbreaking performances the last few days have seen the Cardinals take a 2-0 lead in the series. Wednesday, something needed to change.
After being pinch hit for on Monday and then benched on Tuesday, slugger Patrick Wisdom came through.
Tired of hearing talk about his slump, Wisdom hit a towering home run in the bottom of the third inning to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead over St. Louis.
Wisdom's two-run shot to center field scored Seiya Suzuki and travelled 393 feet while coming off the bat at a scorching 106.6-mph.
It was Wisdom's 12th home run of the season and may be the catalyst he needs to get going once again.
A win on Wednesday would help them salvage something from this three-game series with the Cardinals and put them one game behind .500.
