WATCH: Chicago Cubs Pitcher Assad Dominates Team USA in WBC Victory
Team USA fell to Team Mexico in the group stage of the World Baseball Classic in an 11-5 fashion on Sunday night. For the most part, the USA's lineup was held quiet despite the star power up and down the roster.
Chicago Cubs pitcher Javier Assad played a large role in quelling the star-studded USA roster with his performance. Assad got the ball for three innings on Sunday as he pitched the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Over the course of the 3.0 innings pitched, Assad allowed just one hit, a single to Mike Trout, and heled the USA scoreless. He also recorded to punchouts.
It was an encouraging display from Assad who is trying to make the Cubs' Opening Day roster. It also was more impressive that the performance came against Team USA and not, let's say, Team Great Britain.
