Watch: Bellinger Blasts Three-Run Home Run for First Hit With Chicago Cubs
It only took until the fourth game of the 2023 MLB season but Cody Bellinger finally got his first hit in a Chicago Cubs uniform and it was a massive three-run home run. That blast also gave the Cubs a 3-0 lead over their divisional rivals the Cincinnati Reds.
Bellinger's home run travelled 384 feet, came off the bat at 98.9 mph and had a launch angle of 29 degrees and scored Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson.
It came off of Reds right-hander Connor Overton who held a 2.73 ERA in 2022 over 33.0 innings pitched.
It's an encouraging sign not just for Bellinger who has been ice cold at the plate to start the season, but is also a good sign for the offense as a whole. Bellinger was brought in to help boost the offense and do exactly what he just did on Monday.
