Watch: Ríos Blasts First Home Run of Season, Cuts Texas Rangers' Lead in Half
The Chicago Cubs are eyeing a sweep of the Texas Rangers as they play the final game of three on Easter Sunday at Wrigley Field. A whacky, odd second inning saw the Texas Rangers score four runs after a throwing error from Nick Madrigal allowed two runs to score.
However, the very next half inning the Cubs tried to get something going. With Cody Bellinger on base, designated hitter Edwin Ríos walked to the plate. Ríos then proceeded to launch a Jon Gray fastball 417 feet to dead center field to cut the Rangers lead in half to 4-2.
The ball came off the bat at a scorching 109.1-mph and had a launch angle of 23 degrees. An absolute missile.
Chicago's offense has been more alive the last few games after getting of to a cold start. Perhaps Edwin Ríos's home run will be the spark the Cubs have been looking for on Sunday.
