Chicago Cubs Top 30 prospect Chase Strumpf hit a three-run home run in his Triple-A debut with the Iowa Cubs on Wednesday.

In fact, Strumpf hit that home run in his first Triple-A at-bat against the Columbus Clippers.

Strumpf finished the game 1-for-3, starting the game at third base and batting sixth.

He is the No. 23 prospect in the Cubs’ organization according to MLB.com.

The Cubs called Strumpf up to Iowa from Double-A Nashville on May 30. With the Smokies he was slashing .258/.401/.500/.901 with seven home runs and 21 RBI in 31 games.

He spent all of 2022 with Tennessee and batted .234 with 73 runs scored, 22 doubles, 21 home runs, 57 RBI and played second base, third base and first base.

He split time in 2021 between Tennessee and High Class-A South Bend. He also missed the final month of the season due to injury. But between Tennessee and South Bend, he batted .231 with 19 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBI.

Before COVID-19 shut down minor league baseball in 2020, Strumpf made his pro debut in 2019 with the Cubs’ rookie league team in Arizona. He was later promoted to Class-A Eugene and High Class-A South Bend. He was named a Northwest League All-Star with South Bend. Overall, he batted .244 with three home runs and 17 RBI in 135 at-bats.

The Cubs selected Strumpf in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of UCLA and paid him a $1.05 million signing bonus. With the Bruins he was named an All-American and a two-time All-Pac-12 selection.
