Chicago Cubs Looking to Add Relief Pitching Ahead of Spring Training
The Chicago Cubs appear to not be done adding just yet. Despite adding marquee players such as Dansby Swanson, Jameson Taillon, Cody Bellinger, and Trey Mancini, to name a few, the Cubs want more.
Chicago has bolstered both their lineup and rotation this winter, but one area they have not put as much focus on, at least in MLB free agency, is their bullpen.
We here at Inside the Cubs have mentioned on several occasions the need for another left-handed option out of the bullpen. We have also mentioned the purported interest in some of those remaining on the market.
Now, in a recent piece from The Athletic's Patrick Mooney, the Cubs are indeed still looking to add another bullpen piece ahead of pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring Training.
Of the names still left on the market, names such as Zack Britton, Andrew Chafin and Matt Moore all make the most sense. Perhaps one of them will be viewed as a fit and brought in within the week.
