Chicago Cubs Make Roster Moves Ahead of Saturday Matchup With Orioles

The Chicago Cubs welcome back their ace as they make a roster move ahead of their Saturday matchup with the Baltimore Orioles.

The Chicago Cubs are getting some pitching reinforcement but will lose a big bat in the process.

On Saturday, the Cubs announced that starter Justin Steele will be activated off the 15-day injured list and return to the rotation.

Prior to injury, Steele was one of the most productive and prolific starters in the National League. He holds a 2.65 ERA and 1.059 WHIP over 68.0 innings pitched.

His return should help bolster the rotation, a strength for Chicago in this uncertain season.

In a corresponding move, the Cubs have placed third baseman Patrick Wisdom on the 10-day injured list with a right wrist sprain.

After a hot start to the season, Wisdom has gone cold over the last month. Perhaps a stint on the injured list will help reset Wisdom.

These moves occurred before Chicago's 1:20 p.m. CT matchup with the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. Steele will take the mound and will face Baltimore's Kyle Gibson.
