The Chicago Cubs set a Cactus League attendance record with an overflow crowd of 16,152 Saturday for their opener against the San Francisco Giants.

Clearly, Cubs fans are revved up for an exciting season with new additions like Dansby Swanson, Jameson Taillon, Cody Bellinger and others.

Sloan Park in Mesa, Ariz. will certainly be buzzing through spring training.

The Cubs set the previous record in 2019, the last normal spring training, in a March 25 game against the Boston Red Sox. There was a crowd of 16,100 that day.

Now that COVID is basically behind us, the fans have returned and that’s a beautiful thing.
