Chicago Cubs Set Pitching Probables for Milwaukee Brewers Series
The Chicago Cubs have set their pitching probables for their series with the Milwaukee Brewers that starts on Monday at Wrigley Field.
First pitch for the first two games on Monday and Tuesday is set for 7:05 p.m. central, with Wednesday’s finale will set for 1:20 p.m.
Jameson Taillon (7-8, 5.60) is expected to start for the Cubs on Monday. He is coming off a no-decision against Detroit on Wednesday, where he gave up four hits and four earned runs in 5.2 innings. He struck out six and walked one. Taillon is two starts removed from giving up eight hits and eight earned runs in three innings against Toronto and is still 4-2 with a 4.70 ERA in his last seven starts.
Wade Miley (6-3, 3.18) is expected to start for the Brewers against Taillon. In his last start against Minnesota on Tuesday, he threw five innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs. He struck out four and walked one. In his last seven starts he is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA.
The Cubs are expected to start Justin Steele (14-3, 2.80) on Tuesday. He took a no-decision against Pittsburgh on Thursday, throwing six innings and giving up two earned runs and six hits. He also struck out six and walked two. He is 5-0 with a 3.54 ERA in his last seven starts, with 46 strikeouts and 10 walks.
Corbin Burnes (9-6, 3.65) is expected to start for Milwaukee against Steele. Burnes gave up eight hits and six earned runs in six innings in his last against Minnesota on Wednesday, taking a no-decision. He struck out five and walked one. He has 45 strikeouts and 15 walks in his last seven starts, with a 1-1 record and a 3.43 ERA.
Kyle Hendricks (5-7, 3.80) is expected to start on Wednesday. He took the loss against Pittsburgh on Friday, giving up just six hits and two earned runs in 5.2 innings. He struck out four and walked one. Hendricks is 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA in his last seven starts.
Brandon Woodruff (3-1, 2.65) is expected to make his seventh start of the season against Hendricks and the Cubs on Wednesday. He claimed his second win in his last three starts against San Diego on Friday. He allowed just three hits and one earned run in six innings. He struck out 11 and walked three. In 34 innings he’s struck out 41 and walked nine.
The Cubs have an off-day on Thursday before starting a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, which starts with a doubleheader.
