Chicago Cubs shortstop Dansby Swanson is the team’s top vote-getter after the first results of voting for the National League All-Star Team were released on Monday.

But Swanson has ground to make up if he wants to advance to the second round of voting.

The top two vote-getters at each position — and the top six vote-getters in the outfield — move on to the next round of voting.

Swanson has 197,569 votes so far, but that puts him fifth at a crowded position where the leaders are Atlanta’s Orlando Arcia (406,509) and the New York Mets’ Francisco Lindor (302,051).

Voting ends for the first phase on June 22.

Other Cubs that are receiving votes include catcher Yan Gomes (eighth, 72,343), first baseman Trey Mancini (79,229), second baseman Nico Hoerner (eighth, 84,061), third baseman Patrick Wisdom (eighth, 74,744), designated hitter Christopher Morel (fifth, 114,897), outfielder Cody Bellinger (eighth, 187,828) and outfielder Seiya Suzuki (10th, 170,013).

The All-Star Game is set for July 11 in Seattle.

The MLB All-Star Ballot, which is available exclusively online and via mobile devices at MLB.com/vote, all 30 Club web sites, the MLB App and the MLB Ballpark App, will be accessible until the voting period for Phase 1 concludes at 11 a.m. central on June 22nd.

During the initial voting period, fans can submit up to five ballots per 24-hour period.

On June 22nd, the top two vote-getters at each position (and the top six outfielders) in each League will be revealed on MLB Network at 5 p.m. central, and they will advance to the second phase of voting to determine who makes the All-Star teams and starts for each League.

The leading vote-getter in each league during the first phase of voting will receive an automatic starting assignment at the All-Star Game and bypass the second phase of voting.
